Smoked Comfort Cream with Caramelized Apple and Walnuts
Dip into a baked Smoked Comfort Cream wheel topped with caramelized apple and walnuts, drizzled with honey. Each bite is a perfect mix of sweet and smoky flavours.
This recipe was inspired by Brittany Stager’s Caramelized Pear and Walnut Topped Brie with Honey recipe.
INGREDIENTS
1 apple
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
honey for drizzling
1 round Upper Canada Cheese Smoked Comfort Cream
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cut the rind off the top of the wheel of cheese. Place the wheel of Smoked Comfort Cream in a brie baker or on a small baking sheet on top of parchment paper. Bake in oven until cheese has softened, approximately 8-10 minutes.
While the Smoked Comfort Cream bakes, cut the apple into quarters. Slice each quarter into 3 pieces.
In a medium frying pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar and apples. Cook until apples are brown and tender, about 8 minutes.
Arrange apples on top of wheel, sprinkle with walnuts and drizzle with honey.
Serve immediately with baguette slices or crackers.
