Giving Back because We Care!

Giving Back Because We Care!

With the holidays approaching we tend to think of others who are less fortunate and give that little bit extra so they can also enjoy the season. At Upper Canada Cheese Company we are trying to do our part to give back to the community.

At various in-house events we are offering complimentary coffee from the Bean and Barrel Roaster, a home-grown, socially responsible, female owned & operated company. Following in their footsteps, we are collecting donations for the fresh-ground coffee to give to Gillian’s Place, a women’s shelter located in St. Catharines. We will continue this fundraiser throughout the holidays.

This past year, one of our partners of Upper Canada Cheese Company, Vivian, adopted a homeless Westie dog named Rocky – he is now a big part of her life. We all decided to collect donations for the Lincoln County Humane Society, Rocky’s first home. We will donate any money collected from our gift wrapping in support of this shelter to buy much-needed food and supplies for the animals still waiting on their “forever homes”.

Each year Canfar hosts Bloor Street Entertains to raise money for Aids Research. This past month we decided to participate and donate a deluxe gift box filled with all our award-winning hand crafted cheese, local artisan products and some beautiful keepsakes from our boutique store. We were very proud to be one of the sponsors involved in their online auction and hope to continue this partnership in years to come.

In 2019, we are excited to announce that we will be the VIP sponsors of the Bethlehem Place Empty Bowls Event. Money raised at this event helps to end homelessness and reduce the impact of poverty by providing affordable housing for families in need.
Throughout the evening, we will be circulating with a selection of our award-winning artisan cheese in the VIP area and at the end of dinner, providing a taste of our delicious ricotta cheesecake topped with Tracy’s wine jellies. To learn how to make our cheesecake please check out the video here on our blog.

Upper Canada Cheese Company cares… and little by little we hope to give back to our community and make a difference. It’s our way of saying “Thanks” to everyone for supporting us by enjoying our cheese since 2005.
